New Client Guide
What to expect as you begin your work at Hope and Clarity Counseling, PLLC.
Starting therapy is a meaningful step. This guide walks you through the process, so you know exactly what to expect — from scheduling your first appointment to understanding how sessions work.
Before Your First Session
Before your first session, you’ll move through a few simple steps that help us begin the work with clarity and direction
-
Scheduling
You can schedule your first appointment by reaching out through the contact form, email, or phone. I’ll respond promptly with available times and next steps.
-
Paperwork
Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive secure digital intake forms. These help me understand your history, your goals, and any immediate concerns.
-
Preparing for Session
You don’t need to prepare anything formal. Simply find a quiet, private space to meet via telehealth and bring any questions or concerns, you’d like to explore.
Your First Session
The first session focuses on understanding your story and what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about:
-
Your current concerns and what feels most pressing right now
-
Your history and life context to help clarify patterns and contributing factors
-
What you hope to gain from therapy and the kind of support that feels most helpful
-
Your goals and priorities, both immediate and long‑term
-
How we’ll work together, including pace, focus areas, and what a steady, manageable process looks like for you
There’s no pressure to share everything at once. We move at your pace.

-
Focused conversation to address current concerns and track what’s shifting

Insight‑oriented reflection to clarify patterns and underlying themes
-
Practical strategies to support coping, clarity, and resilience between sessions

A clear, purposeful pace shaped around what supports your progress
Standard sessions are 50 minutes, with extended sessions available upon request.
